How to Use Conditional Logic in Your Questionnaire?

Conditional logic allows you to personalize the respondent’s experience by automatically showing or hiding questions or pages based on previous answers.
This makes your questionnaire more dynamic, targeted, and pleasant to complete.

Types of Conditional Logic Available

Evalandgo lets you add two types of conditions:

  1. Show/Hide questions

  2. Show/Hide pages

AlertImportant : Always finish building the full structure of your questionnaire (order, pages, questions) before adding conditions. Otherwise, they may not work correctly.

1. Show or Hide a Question

This option displays one or several questions only if the respondent gives a specific answer to a previous question.

How to set it up ?

  1. Click the double-arrow icon on the right of the question you want to display conditionally.

  2. Select the trigger question (the one that will define the logic).

  3. Choose the logical condition (e.g., is equal to, is not equal to, is not answered…).

  4. Select the triggering answer(s).

  5. (Optional) Click “+” to add another condition.

  6. (Optional) Click “Add group” to combine several conditions.

  7. Click Save.

Info
Conditioned questions are hidden by default and will only appear when the defined condition is met.
Idea

Example:

  • Question 1: Would you like to be contacted again? (Yes / No)

  • Question 2: Please leave us your contact details.

👉 Condition: Show Question 2 only if the answer to Question 1 is “Yes.”

2. Show or Hide a page

This option lets you hide or display entire pages based on answers given in earlier pages.

AlertThis is only available if your questionnaire contains at least 2 pages

How to set it up ?

  1. Click the double-arrow icon to the right of the page name you want to display conditionally.

  2. Select the trigger question.

  3. Define the logical condition (e.g., is equal to, is less than, is not answered…).

  4. Select the relevant answer(s).

  5. (Optional) Click “+” or “Add group” to add additional conditions.

  6. Click Save.

Idea

Example:

  • Page 1 – Question: How did you hear about us?
Answers: Online advertising / TV advertising

  • Page 2 – Questions related to online advertising

  • Page 3 – Questions related to TV advertising

👉 Conditions:

  • Show Page 2 if the answer is “Online advertising.”

  • Show Page 3 if the answer is “TV advertising.”

Delete a condition

  1. Click the double-arrow icon again on the relevant question or page.

  2. Find the condition you want to delete.

  3. Click the red trash bin icon on the right.

Condition not working

If you see an error icon next to a condition, it usually means the trigger question has been modified (moved, deleted, renamed, or duplicated).

In this case:

  • Review and recreate the condition

  • Make sure the logic still makes sense.

Idea
Tip: Always test your questionnaire in Preview mode before sharing it, to ensure conditions work smoothly and avoid loops or conflicts.

Good to know

  • Une question peut être conditionnée par plusieurs autres questions.

  • Une page peut contenir plusieurs conditionnelles combinées.

  • Si une question est supprimée, toutes les conditionnelles associées seront également invalidées.
