How do I create a Live Mode quiz and run it live?

Live Mode turns your questionnaire into a real-time activity: your participants answer from their phones while you control the pace from your own screen. It is perfect for a training quiz, a poll during a meeting or a team activity. Here is how to build your quiz, run it live and review the results.

Alert

Feature available only to customers with a PRO+ or PRO+ Team subscription.

A 14-day free trial lets you test Live Mode, with a maximum of 3 simultaneous participants per session and 25 responses per questionnaire. The trial is tied to each questionnaire and starts on your first click on "Broadcast and Present".

Why choose Live Mode to run a session in real time?

Unlike a standard questionnaire where each respondent moves at their own pace, Live Mode is synchronous: you display the questions one by one and you set the tempo. Results appear on screen instantly, which makes your session lively and interactive.

Create your quiz from a new questionnaire

  1. Log in to your Evalandgo account.
  2. From your dashboard, click "New questionnaire".
  3. Select Live Mode, choose your starting method (from scratch, with AI or by import), then confirm.
  4. Name your questionnaire. You can change this name at any time.

Info
Good to know: this name is internal and visible only to you. In Live Mode, each screen of your quiz can also be renamed individually.

Already have a standard questionnaire? You can convert it to Live Mode:

  1. Click the three dots to the right of the questionnaire.
  2. Select "Convert to Live mode".

Info
Good to know: the conversion creates a copy. Your original questionnaire and its responses stay intact, but elements not supported in Live (conditional questions, multi-scores, quotas, incompatible question types) are not carried over.

Build the pages of your quiz

After confirming, you land in your Live quiz editor. From there you can:

  1. Add your pages: single choice, multiple choice, text, scale or content elements (text and image). Live Mode also offers interactive formats such as word cloud, poll, star rating, leaderboard and brainstorming.
  2. Structure your quiz across several pages, with each question on its own screen.
  3. Turn on quiz mode if you want to award points and generate a score.

Prepare the end page for your participants

Go to Creation, then End page, to design the screen shown to your participants once the session is over. You can add:

  • A personalized thank-you message.
  • The score and leaderboard, if quiz mode is enabled.
  • A PDF export button, so each participant can keep their end page and score.

Info
Good to know: for a scored quiz, the Leaderboard element shows the top three podium and the full participant ranking directly on the end page.

Customize the look of your session

In the Appearance module, give your quiz a visual identity specific to the Live session: colors, logo, background and fonts.

Info
Good to know: to check the result before the big day, use the Test tab. It opens a preview session with a working QR code that resets each time you open it. During the trial, this preview counts toward the 3-participant limit.

Launch your session live

Live Mode works by session. Create a new session for each event from the "Broadcast and Present" module:

  1. Click "New session".
  2. Name your session.
  3. Choose the collection mode: anonymous or identified.

Three items are then generated:

  • The participant link, to share with your audience.
  • The QR code, which also acts as the presenter remote so you can control the session from your phone.
  • The presentation link, to display on screen.

During the presentation, you stay in control of the pace:

  • Show the questions one by one.
  • Close voting whenever you decide.
  • Display answers, analyses or the live leaderboard before moving on.

Analyze results after the session

Once the session is over, open the Results module to analyze the responses collected. You will find:

  • Statistics: a synthetic overview of the results.
  • Results by respondent: the detail of individual answers.
  • Results by question: answers aggregated question by question.
  • My exports: your generated exports.

Results stay available session by session, so you can compare each event.

Notes

Good to know:

  • Each session is independent: your participants must join it via the new link or new QR code each time.
  • No account is required for your participants: they join the session with a single scan.
  • Building a Live quiz is done on a computer. The presenter screen is designed for desktop, but you can control it from a phone using the remote.
  • Live Mode is ideal for training quizzes, polls in assemblies, team activities, seminars and interactive conferences.
